Propane is mainly used as a fuel. It is widely applied as a refrigerant in petroleum refining, chemical industry and natural gas processing operations. It serves as a deasphalting solvent for lube oil fractions. It is also used as standard gas and for the preparation of specialty standard mixed gases. High-purity propane is a colorless, odorless and flammable liquefied gas. As a liquefied bottled gas, its pressure is its vapor pressure (7.48 kgf/cm² @ 21.1°C). It is mainly used in organic synthesis, fuel, solvents, production of ethylene and propylene, refrigerants, standard gases, calibration gases, and plasma dry etching.
