製品説明

# Product Information ## Product Name: Potassium Ferrate ## English Name: Potassium Ferrate ## CAS No.: 39469-86-8 ## Specification: 25 kg per barrel ## Product Introduction Potassium ferrate is a hexavalent iron salt with strong oxidizing property. When dissolved in water, it releases abundant atomic oxygen to efficiently eliminate bacteria and viruses in water. Meanwhile, it is reduced to nascent ferric hydroxide [Fe(OH)₃], a high-quality inorganic flocculant capable of efficiently removing fine suspended solids from water. Experiments have verified that, thanks to its combined powerful oxidation and flocculation effects, potassium ferrate outperforms chlorine-containing disinfectants and permanganates in overall disinfection and decontamination performance. More importantly, it generates no harmful substances to the human body throughout the entire water disinfection and purification process. Ferrates are universally recognized by scientists as green disinfectants. ## Product Appearance Dark purple lustrous powder ## Mechanism of Action The iron element in potassium ferrate exists in the +6 valence state, distinct from the common +2 or +3 valence states of ordinary iron ions. It exhibits strong oxidative activity across the full pH range, with an oxidation potential of up to 2.20 V — far higher than potassium permanganate and potassium dichromate. It can directly oxidize ammonia into nitrates, hydrogen sulfide into sulfates, and organic matter into carbon dioxide and water, delivering both deodorization and detoxification effects. During decomposition in water, hexavalent iron [Fe(VI)] does not convert directly into ferric ions (Fe³⁺). Instead, it undergoes transitional evolution through intermediate ions with varying charges from hexavalent to trivalent states, producing positively charged hydrolytic byproducts in the conversion process. These byproducts feature large reticulated structures that compress and electrically neutralize the diffusion layers of colloidal impurities in water, thereby exerting unique flocculation performance. Upon contact with water, potassium ferrate releases oxygen, granting it strong oxygen-releasing capacity to replenish insufficient dissolved oxygen in water bodies. As a highly water-soluble bactericide, potassium ferrate destroys microbial cell walls, cell membranes and intracellular substances (such as enzymes) via intense oxidation. It inhibits the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids, hinders the growth and reproduction of microorganisms, and achieves algae and bacteria killing effects. ## Application Fields As a novel nitrogen-free high-efficiency disinfectant, it is applied in drinking water treatment to rapidly eradicate bacteria and viruses in water, remove partial organic pollutants and heavy metal ions, decolorize and deodorize water, control biological slime buildup in circulating cooling water, and treat wastewater containing phenol and cyanide-cadmium plating effluent. It can be used to prepare oxidized starch for paper surface sizing and textile finishing. In chemical production, it serves to oxidize sulfonic acids, nitrites, ferrocyanides and other inorganic substances. During zinc smelting, it removes manganese, antimony and arsenic impurities. It is also utilized in tobacco manufacturing for cigarette filter tips. As a highly water-soluble bactericide, potassium ferrate destroys microbial cell walls, cell membranes and intracellular substances (such as enzymes) through strong oxidation, suppresses protein and nucleic acid synthesis, impedes microbial growth and reproduction, and realizes algae and bacteria removal. ## Usage Methods 1. Detoxification: Oxidize toxic and harmful inorganic and organic substances to reduce toxic hazards of waste pollutants to aquaculture organisms. 2. Deodorization: Oxidize ammonia and hydrogen sulfide to eliminate malodors at the bottom of aquaculture ponds. 3. Water purification: Coagulate suspended solids, tiny particles and macromolecular organic matter in water to purify water quality. 4. Biocide: Kill bacteria and algae to regulate the biological community of water bodies. 5. Integrated oxidation, flocculation and sterilization functions thoroughly clean water bodies from micro to macro levels, creating a comfortable living environment for aquaculture animals. ### Translation Notes 1. Professional chemical terms adopt standard chemical English nomenclature: 六价铁盐 = hexavalent iron salt;新生态Fe(OH)₃ = nascent ferric hydroxide;氧化电位 = oxidation potential 2. Aquaculture industry terms are unified: 养殖动物 = aquaculture organisms;池底恶臭 = malodors at the bottom of aquaculture ponds 3. Repeated descriptions in the original Chinese text are retained without redundant deletion to fully match the original manuscript logic 4. Chemical symbols and valence states follow international chemical writing standards (Fe(VI), Fe³⁺, +6 valence state) 5. Unit expression complies with international industrial specification habits: 25kg/桶 = 25 kg per barrel
